Drip. Espresso. Latte. Macchiato. To many, coffee is manna from heaven. Coffeehouses have become the new bars. No longer does the line, "Would you like to have a drink with me?" reign supreme. Instead, "Would you like to go out for coffee sometime?" has taken over, as first dates happen over mochas instead of Manhattans. This week, On the Menu hits up the best coffeehouses in the area, where the goal is not just get in the door, get coffee, and get out the door, but to come in and have an experience, along with a cup of java.


Dash Supports Cancer Charity

Approximately 320 runners took to the streets of Isla Vista and UCSB on Saturday for the 6th annual Kappa Dash in an effort to raise money to benefit breast and ovarian cancer research. Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters teamed up with members of the UCSB community to participate in the 5K-run, which began at the KKG sorority house located at 6525 Picasso Road. A pre-run ceremony was held in Greek Park at 10 a.m., featuring a speech from Santa Barbara Mayor Marty Blum, who has been involved in the event in previous years.

UCSB Leaves Titans Confused

The UCSB men's soccer team continued to do just enough to get by against Cal State Fullerton last Saturday, netting a first-half goal and holding on for a 1-0 victory over the Titans. The win vaults the Gauchos (10-6 overall, 5-2 in the Big West) into first place in the Big West Conference and extends their winning streak to a season-high three games.
