The rumors streaming through campus have been confirmed: former President Bill Clinton arrives next week to speak at an event for UCSB's year-old Orfalea Center for Global and International Studies. According to a few UCSB employees who wish to remain anonymous, the Orfalea Family Foundation helped organize the event, more information for which will be released today. The UCSB employees confirmed that it would be a prominent speaker, but could not comment on Monday because the parties involved were still discussing the details of the event.

Inclement weather conditions at the fifth annual Ford Ironman Wisconsin triathlon, held on Sept. 10 in Madison, added another element to the always-challenging race, which consists of a 2.4-mile swim and a 112-mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2 mile run.

A week ago, UCSB cross country Head Coach Pete Dolan received an excellent performance from his #11 women's team. Last Saturday, Dolan saw a group of his athletes excel once again, only this time it was the men's squad that came away with a stellar finish in the Stanford Invitational.
