A bomb scare in front of the I.V. Foot Patrol office last Sunday shook up business as usual on Pardall Road, and could be tied to another investigation by the UC Police After observing a suspicious metal box on the sidewalk, police taped off access to the road and sent a bomb squad to investigate. The box did not contain explosives, but IVFP Senior Deputy Mark Williams said that it and its contents - spray cans, paint brushes and a note - have been turned over to the UCPD.Dept.

Greetings, returning and new UCSB students. I write to inform or remind you that Isla Vista is both a "college town" and a "coastal community." In fact, it started as a coastal community before UCSB was built and the original population was all locals, no students.

When it comes to directors, Pedro Almod—var is truly a living legend. His films are always insightful, always witty and always at least a little bit dark. He drew rave reviews for his recent "Bad Education," which garnered critical comparisons to Hitchcock, and in his latest film - "Volver" - he manages to craft a touching, moving and hilarious film that can only be described as what would happen if Hitchcock did comedies.
