Cloudy skies did not stop the Olympic stars and 10 Santa Barbara locals from shining as the Association of Volleyball Professionals swung through West Beach and competed in the 50th annual Santa Barbara Bud Light Open.

UCSB alumnus Todd Rogers and his partner Phil Dalhausser were two of the most talked about players this weekend, as Rogers seized his first hometown title in the men's division yesterday in two sets over John Hyden and Jeff Nygaard. This year, Rogers ended his streak of four consecutive second-place finishes.

Bands, Crowds Jam at Extravaganza

Thousands of fans and revelers - some of which may have been under the influence of more than the music - flocked to Harder Stadium on Sunday, screaming and cheering for Extravaganza. Hosted by Associated Students Program Board, five bands, a variety of vendors and an estimated 7,000 spectators attended the event - approximately the same number of attendees as last year's sunny show.

This June 6, Santa Barbara County citizens will decide whether to support Measure H, which if passed would split the county in two. The long-running feud between the mostly agricultural north and more urban south half of the county may be settled as Measure H goes to the ballot.

County Residents Should Make It Their Mission to Split

The county split process has been underway by serious citizens for the past five years. About 33,000 north County voters signed a petition to force the State of California to investigate both the high costs of Santa Barbara County governance and south County's political influence on policies which are generally liberal, anti-business, anti-agricultural and against private property rights.

Caesar Uyesaka Stadium is home to the 35 men that make up the UCSB baseball team. Renovated in the 1990s, Caesar Uyesaka Stadium now is able to seat 1,000 fans.

Baseball: Gauchos Dominate Against UC Davis in Slugfest

The UCSB baseball team played its final home series of the season this weekend, as the Gauchos defeated UC Davis two games to one. The Gauchos (25-26 overall, 8-10 in the Big West) racked up a total of 39 runs over the weekend, compared to the Aggies' 18 total runs, as UCSB won the series 5-7, 14-6 and 20-5.
