The Tri-Counties Blood Bank is teaming up with See's Candies, Inc. to reward local residents who donate blood with a sweet treat in honor of Valentine's Day. Anyone who gives blood to the blood bank before Feb. 14 will receive a four-ounce box of assorted chocolates from See's Candies, said Tri-Counties Blood Bank Community Relations Director Scott Edward. Representatives from the blood bank will be collecting blood donations between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday in the Graduate Student Lounge in the UCen.

It seems like almost everyone in Isla Vista has a story of how and why their citation or arrest was unjust. I've heard talk of the various "bad" cops, and have received two traffic violations myself; however, prior to last Sunday night I always put my faith in the officers.

After coming up short last season, the UCSB softball team has changed gears - added players and stacked their schedule - and is ready to ring in the 2006 campaign. With a 26-22 record overall and a 9-12 record in conference, good for fifth in the Big West last year, the Gauchos failed to reach the postseason.

For the UCSB baseball team, almost nothing could kick off the season better than a good thrashing of cross-town rival Westmont. The Gauchos (1-0 overall) got just that Tuesday, scoring eight runs in the first two innings en route to a 16-1 win over the Warriors.

On a two game winning streak, the #10 UCSB men's volleyball team looks to seek vengeance tonight as it heads down south to face #7 UCLA. Last month, the Bruins (6-5 overall, 1-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation [MPSF]) swept the Gauchos at home and now Santa Barbara (6-6 overall, 4-4 MPSF) will try to return the favor.
