In the past week, over 20 local residents reported the theft of expensive electronics from their homes, but local law enforcement says the only culprit it has found thus far is the high number of unlocked doors and windows in I.V.

The Isla Vista Recreation and Park District (IVRPD) is ramping up its plans to build a skate park in I.V., as funding for the project begins to roll in. IVRPD Director Diane Conn said the IVRPD has already collected $317,000 for the project and hopes to build the $800,000 skate park by 2008.

The Campus Republicans tried to win Ben Stein's money at last night's meeting of the Associated Students Finance Board, but instead left with $300 to cover the advertising costs of their event. Following a discussion over the partisan implications of the event, Campus Republicans Chair Sally Marois withdrew her request for $2,000 to cover the cost of his contract and instead requested funding to pay for publicity expenses.

I was propositioned Saturday night. My boyfriend and I met up with a group of friends. One was a member of a fraternity, so he suggested we go back to his frat house. After watching a few rounds of beer pong and chatting with some people as we played a round of "horse," I met one of the frat boys with the appropriate nickname of a Greek god.

When junior midfielder Eric Frimpong was nine years old, the hardest thing to find in his native country of Ghana was a soccer ball. So Frimpong and his friends wrapped together all their socks and played "football" in the narrow area between their beds in their dormitory. Now, UCSB's newest midfielder plays soccer on a much wider turf.

If there's one thing my Dodger-blue-bleeding roommate Joaquin and I can agree on in the sports world, it's that we hate the Padres. My disdain for the Dodgers has been well documented, but I cringe at the thought of the Padres representing the so-so NL West in the playoffs. And I'm sure any Dodger fan would agree with me.
