After months of refusing to visit the website www.thedarksideofucsb.com, I finally decided to give it a look to see for myself what all the fuss was about. After reading some of the editorials and postings on the website, I came across an article written by the website on Jan. 4 titled, "Is There a Problem?" This article addresses the issue of crime and violence at UCSB and its surrounding community.

This recent attempt to ban the ROTC program and military recruiters from the UCSB campus has led me to realize one very important fact about society: Some idealists can be stupid. Using the words of the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I have a dream. It is a dream in which all peoples and nations would get along and there would be no need for armies or police. And then reality hits.

Failing to paint Colorado Springs, Colo., black last weekend at Regionals the UCSB men's ultimate Frisbee team, the Black Tide, took third place losing to San Diego in the backdoor finals 9-15 dismissing a chance at Nationals.

Having earned a solid reputation for mixing things up, the Associated Students Program Board (ASPB) continues to impress this year when it comes to Extravaganza. Traditionally a free, all-day music festival held on a Saturday at Harder Stadium, Publicity Coordinator Becky Windsor and her other ASPB cronies associates decided there was room for improvement.

When the credits finally rolled in "Crash," directed by Paul Haggis, I realized I was out of breath. "Crash" manages to squeeze multiple plot lines, all filled with drama and excitement, into its short 113 minute run time.

The second annual "Co-opula Concert" in the park will take place from 12:30 to 10 p.m. at Anisq' Oyo' Park.
