Queers and their allies displayed love for their significant others at the 16th annual queer wedding ceremony on Friday at noon in Storke Plaza. The Queer Student Union (QSU) hosted the event to cap its week of pride celebrations, which started April 22.

An elderly hiker was rescued early Sunday morning after twisting his knee and spending the night alone on Santa Cruz Island. Willard Thompson, a 65-year-old Montecito resident, was hiking Saturday on Santa Cruz Island when he twisted his knee and became disoriented, said Santa Barbara Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Sgt. Erik Raney.

All I wanted was a Jamba Juice. However, my normally easy trek to the UCen was hampered by the presence of three beefy men in military gear last Thursday. I quickly lost my appetite for sweet smoothie goodness as I uneasily made my way past a group of über-macho acting men competing in a pull-up challenge sponsored by campus military recruiters and sighed at yet another manifestation of the increasingly militarized state of our nation.

UCSB's sweep over Northridge this weekend resembled a home run derby more than a softball series. The UCSB softball team combined with Northridge to tally seven four-baggers in a series that was markedly one-sided.

After being upset in its first game of the tournament by San Diego State, the seventh-seeded Gaucho women's water polo team defeated San Jose and Arizona State over the weekend en route to a ninth place finish in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament and an overall record of 17-12.
