An accounting discrepancy in the Associated Students' 2005-06 budget forced A.S. Legislative Council to reconsider a revised financial plan Wednesday night, even though it approved an incorrect version at last week's meeting.

There is no place on earth that has perfected the art of the booty call like Isla Vista has. On any given Friday night, bedrooms all over town are cashing in on the "Drink, dial, do me" dance that has become a staple of I.V. social living. And hey, if you're lucky, you just might rack up that one special partner you mesh well enough with between the sheets to christen your fuck buddy.

On Monday in Storke Plaza, queer students and faculty and our friends and allies rallied together to kick off the opening of Queer Pride Week here at UCSB as a time of celebration of identity and diversity. As many may have personally witnessed or read about in the Nexus, a man paced around with a large sign that read choice phrases such as "sodomite sinners" and "burn in Hell."

hank God we're done with A.S. elections. I mean, who wants to hear two parties castigate each other when any citizen can easily watch news from Capitol Hill? In the past weeks, one of the more troubling issues between the parties has been over the use of the filibuster in hindering Bush nominees from attaining federal judicial seats.

I'd like to say a great big thank you to Alec Mouhibian for demonstrating so poignantly why we do need gender studies, and the Women's Center. Because there are still so many people who, like you, believe that any woman who dares to question the status quo is an angry, man-hating, asexual, phallophoic feminazi, we need these institutions more than ever.

For those of us that grew up around the 916, come playoff time, we begin to worship at the temple of Mike Bibby. When the games really start to count, the Sacramento Kings' floor general seemingly performs divine intervention during the playoffs.

If the Gauchos were a herd of raging bulls, then Long Beach State would be the unsuspecting rodeo clown. Traveling to Pepperdine tonight for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament Semifinals, sixth-seeded Santa Barbara (16-13 overall, 13-9 in the MPSF) will have to muster another upset - this time over second-seed Long Beach State (21-9 overall, 14-8 in the MPSF) - if it wants to move on to the MPSF Championships.

Even the glaring afternoon sunlight and perpetual dust cloud couldn't keep fans from rushing the stage just to grab a glimpse or even a high-five from their favorite rock bands at this, the first year of the Spring Addiction Festival. The show started promptly at 4 p.m. at the dismal Earl Warren Show Grounds with the main stage inside the actual livestock ring.

Two theater troupes satisfied plenty of audience members last weekend as they sought to tickle a certain bone with the presentation of "Endless Climax" ...90 Minutes of Pain.
Movie Review

It is no wonder that CalArts professor Thom Andersen's documentary plays out like a long-winded lecture. Heavy on the visual appeal, but lacking in emphasis or enthusiasm, "Los Angeles Plays Itself" comes across like the most glorified three-hour long PowerPoint presentation known to man.

It's become rather obvious that indie rock has taken over as the next logical progression in the popular music scene. Festival shows like Coachella have risen up from the extremely unlikely (who would have thought college kids would pay 75 dollars to stand in the desert sun) to the marginally profitable.

Before writing this review, I'd never heard of the Mountain Goats; it's probably safe to say that neither have many of you. However, this is one band that should not go overlooked.

A friend gave me the worst gift recently. It's a My Little Pony with a lollipop attached to its head. When you press a button, the pony's head and the lollipop spin like they're possessed by Satan (which they are).
