Left-Lane Driver: The Man Who Cried Terror

Monday, January 31, 2005

The more I think about it, the more President Bush reminds me of the boy in the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." The only difference is that in the fable the townspeople eventually stop believing the young upstart, whereas in America we continue to trust a man who time and time again cries "wolf" when there are nothing but sheep.

Enough With Overexposed Vocal Trash

Monday, January 31, 2005

As I was perusing the latest edition of Cosmo (as any 25-year-old hetero male does), I read something that absolutely shocked me. No, it wasn't the article about how you can judge a guy's personality based on the shape of his ass, although I was quite fascinated to discover that my apple-butt means that I'm looking for an "emotional connection with a woman."

Well-Researched Arguments Are Much Sweeter to Win, Alec

Monday, January 31, 2005

Alec Mouhibian, I have to object to your last column ("Wake Up, Progressives: History Refutes Anti-Globalization Pipe Dreams," Daily Nexus, Jan. 24). I have come to accept that I will almost inevitably disagree with you and that this disagreement often stems from your neglect to get your facts straight.

SB Music Scene Feature Neglects I.V. LIVE Efforts

Monday, January 31, 2005

Although I offer my hearty thanks to Nikki Moore for Friday's ode to the local live music scene ("Stayin' Alive in the SB Live Music Scene," Daily Nexus, Jan. 28), I am extremely disappointed at the total lack of even a cursory nod to the Isla Vista scene and particularly to the tireless efforts by the producers of I.V. LIVE to offer quality live performances every week right here in Isla Vista.

Go Abroad if You Want to See Some Ugly Universities

Monday, January 31, 2005

It's funny to read how UCSB is so boring, ugly and aesthetically displeasing ("UC's 'Most Beautiful Campus' Could Use Some Sprucing Up," Daily Nexus, Jan. 28). Try comparing it to the University of Mirail-Toulouse II in France.

Monday, January 31, 2005

The Santa Barbara men's volleyball team was guilty of killing conference rivals this weekend, as volleyballs flew while Gaucho opponents fell. Lava Lovers

Monday, January 31, 2005

Good news! Target - as in the store that isn't anywhere near UCSB - is donating a 50-foot-tall fake lava lamp to the town of Soap Lake, Wash.
