Isla Vista's Dark Side

Monday, October 4, 2004

I told my mom not to worry; I wasn't going to get killed in Isla Vista. My mom is a worrywart. The nagging of a mother is one thing that a good majority of students retain long after they've moved away from home, much longer than girlfriends or boyfriends, good credit and good hygiene.

Hippies Aside, George Bush Is the Bomb

Monday, October 4, 2004

The peaceniks would lead one to think that President Bush acted entirely alone in taking on Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. They seem to think that Americans should have listened to the Europeans and the United Nations members, who supported Saddam for what appear to be strong financial reasons, and at the expense of Americans.

Nexus Neglects Multi-Cultural Greek Groups

Monday, October 4, 2004

I must admit, every time I hear of greek organizations in the newspaper, I'm hesitant to read the article. As a greek myself, I don't want to hear about the negative incidents that happen when greeks choose to haze or drink. Though negative press coverage is a part of the real world, spotlighting the failures and errors of greeks instead of the positive aspects will only continue to further the already negative stereotype of "frats" and sororities.

Men's Soccer

Blemish By The Bay

Monday, October 4, 2004

Friday night the Gauchos finally found a clink in their armor in a heated battle with the University of San Francisco. Alas, it could be worse. UCSB managed to salvage a 1-1 tie, but for the first time this season they put up something other than a goose egg in their losses or ties column.

Stupid Pet Owner Tricks

Monday, October 4, 2004

This weekend, I watched a hamster spin around in a wheel. Hamsters seem to do this a lot if given the chance, which makes me wonder why most other animals don't.
