Baseball:

Long time pitching Coach Tom Myers was named the UCSB Associate Head Baseball Coach last week. His chief duties will include guidance of fundraising and alumni development.

Women’s Soccer:

The Big West women’s soccer coaches picked the Gauchos to take the conference title in the annual preseason poll. Last year, Santa Barbara took the conference tournament crown in penalties over Long Beach State to earn a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Men’s Basketball:

At the U20 European Championships, sophomore center Greg Somogyi is averaging eight points, five rebounds and three blocks per game. Fellow sophomore Orlando Johnson is averaging an impressive 25.9 points, and 3.5 rebounds per game in the San Francisco Bay Area Pro-Am League.

Women’s Basketball:

The reigning Big West Championships added some depth to their backcourt, picking up former Cal guards Angelei Aguirre and Kelsey Adrian, along with newly announced freshman Stefanie Corgel.

Men’s Soccer:

UCSB sophomore midfielder Danny Barrera has been having a busy summer, helping the Ventura County Fusion play their way into the Premier Development League championship game. He is joined on the Fusion by former Gauchos Alfonso Motagalvan, Bryan Byrne, Brennan Tenelle and Ivan Becerra.
