SB Keeps Up Winning Ways

While the rest of the school was preparing for finals week, the UC Santa Barbara men’s and women’s lacrosse teams were fighting for supremacy in their respective leagues. On March 6, the second-ranked women took a tough 12-11 loss from first ranked Santa Clara, but rebounded a week later with a dominating 14-5 victory over 7th ranked UCLA on March 12 to move to 10-1 on the season. After a slow start to the season, the men extended their win streak to five with three straight March wins before falling to Arizona State in their most recent game. The loss brought their record to 6-4 overall.

Census Data Crucial For Education Funds

In March 2010, every household across the nation received a Census form. We’re tracking return rates through the U.S. Census Bureau Take 10 Map at www.2010.census.gov/take10map. As of March 29, Isla Vista had the lowest return rates in the county, with only 23 percent of households participating. That means that 77 percent of households in Isla Vista had not returned their forms.

The UCSB women’s tennis team is coming into top form with just a handful of matches left in the season. Saturday, the Gauchos defeated Loyola Marymount on the road 5-2 and carried the momentum home on the following day to beat Cal State Northridge 6-1 in a conference match. Santa Barbara is now 9-9 on the season with a 4-1 Big West record that has them sitting in third place in the conference.
